For your convenience in anticipating project costs, we have listed most of our rates per “page,” where a page is 250 words, rounded up to the next whole page. Pricing by the hour is also available upon request. A $25 minimum applies to projects that are typically quoted by the page or by the hour, but we do offer some fixed-fee services at prices below those minimums (e.g., undergraduate paper proofreading).
Our pricing assumes that both the source materials and the final deliverables will be electronic files in Microsoft Office format (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). We are happy to accommodate client requests to work off of PDFs, in hardcopy, or in other programs like Scrivener, but additional charges may apply to cover material production costs or added complexity.
Fees given here may be negotiable for large projects or established clients. If the service you’re interested in isn’t listed, please contact us, and we’ll be happy to work up a quote.
General Proofreading and Editing
Basic Proofreading
- Document will be closely reviewed for grammar, spelling (including “eggcorn” word swaps), capitalization, and punctuation

Final-Pass Proofreading
- Similar to our Basic Proofreading service, but for documents that have already been proofed once and just need a second pair of eyes

Copy Editing
- In addition to the checks performed in Basic Proofreading, the document will also be reviewed for sentence structure and word choice

Content Editing
- The next step beyond Copy Editing, this service includes more serious attention to the overall structure of the document

- If your document's overall structure is in need of serious attention, we can help you rewrite it

Document Services
Transcription
- Transcription of audio or video interviews, discussions, meetings, conversations, etc.
- Transcripts can range from perfectly literal (including all filler sounds) to edited for maximum readability (eliding filler sounds and false starts)
- Two people: $2/source audio minute
- Three or more people: Request a quote
- Rates may increase depending on recording quality or participant dialect
Report Building
- Based on source data, template, and layout notes, we will build a report in PowerPoint, including charts and graphs
- Includes proofreading and data checking
- Two rounds of revision are included in the price

Report Template Creation
- If you don’t already have a PowerPoint template for your report, we’ll help you design one
- $50/hr
Data Checking
- To ensure all numbers have been correctly imported, we'll review your report versus the source data

Survey Testing
- Your online survey will be compared to its source questionnaire word by word for accuracy—including question and response text, instructions, and skip patterns

Tab Checking
- We'll review your tables (e.g., generated by WinCross) to ensure the wording matches your survey instrument

Vendor Management
- If other vendors are providing data, materials, or services for the project, we can coordinate their efforts for you

Proofreading for Graduate and Undergraduate Students
Depending on the ethical guidelines of your particular academic institution, these services will typically fall somewhere between Basic Proofreading and Content Editing. We will also ensure all citations are properly formatted to your specified standard. For theses and dissertations, two rounds of revision are included in the price.
Undergraduate Paper
- Up to 6 pages: $10
- Additional pages after 6: $2/page
Master’s Thesis
- Up to 45 pages: $200
- Additional pages after 45: $5/page
PhD Dissertation
- Up to 120 pages: $600
